  • Florida Statute 627.0629 requires insurers give “discounts, credits, or other rate differentials, or appropriate reductions in deductibles” if you can provide certification that you have installed or implemented fixtures or construction techniques that have demonstrated to reduce the amount of loss in a windstorm. These discounts are applied for 5 years.

  • These fixtures or construction techniques must include, but are not limited to, items that enhance roof strength, roof covering performance, roof- to-wall strength, wall- to- floor- to- foundation strength, opening protection, window, door and skylight strength.


  • You may qualify for a discount without even realizing it. Hip roofs can earn you up to 47% on the wind portion of your policy. Homes built under the 2001 Florida Building Code, (Effective 3/1/2002), are eligible for a minimum 68% discount.
