Regardless of whether you are buying a foreclosure, resale or new construction, which all have defects, it is always a good idea to get an infrared scan.

Infrared scans are seldom included in a standard home inspection, but they should be. The most seasoned inspector cannot detect these trouble areas without thermal imaging. 

Infrared scans can identify roof leaks, HVAC duct leaks, overheated conductors and circuit breakers, improper or lack of insulation, plumbing leaks, hot spots in attics, moisture related to termite infestations, and random surprises.
